Of course, Misery needs no introduction, having been prophesizing the end times while blasting our ears for the last 31 years now.

Founders of what has become known as "Minneapolis Crust" Misery were one of the first American crust punk bands, blending together the energy of Discharge with the grimy smash of Motorhead and dark-hippiesh lyrics of Black Sabbath.

5 years in the making, and 17 years since their last LP, Misery has released their crowning achievement. This time around sees Misery wielding their bass driven claustrophobic heaviness of the earliest work and combing that with the powerful clear production of the later releases.

"From Where the Sun Never Shines" displays everything one has come to expect from them, uncompromising darkness and the bleakest of worldviews while always holding onto the faintest glimmer of hope. Trends come and go, but Misery remains, bowing to no one.

Fittingly, the album's end features a cover of Amebix's "I.C.B.M." It's proper in that the whole album almost feels like the American take on that LP. The band rampage forward, maintaining a massive heaviness, all while mixing the political with the pagan.

Not bad either:

Tragedy - s/t LP

Tragedy - s/t LP

From the opening acoustic intro to the last dark, thrashed out note this is one seriously intense album. The obvious comparisons His Hero Is Gone and From Ashes Rise are there for sure but to me this has a bit more of a straight up hardcore feel to it. That said though, this has some excellent heavy pounding drum beats happening and some changes in pace, pitch and mood that are so…

Tragedy - Vengeance LP

Tragedy - Vengeance LP

This is the sound of impending doom! The songs are epic, melodic, powerful and crushing - all at once!! Tragedy is fast and extremely heavy hardcore with melancholic melodies and pissed off as fuck vocals. I would say that this record is even better than their first one, even when I thought that this is not possible. You can taste the athmosphere of the songs, while the music crawls under…

Pandemix - In Condemnation LP

Pandemix - In Condemnation LP

Pandemix are rightly regarded as one of the best US underground punk bands out there right now. Their debut album “Scale Models Of Atrocities” received great critical acclaim, and highlighted how Pandemix had a knack of making unique, thought provoking punk that was innovative as well as powerful and engaging. “In Condemnation” is the follow up second album, but this shows a band not…

Der Moderne Mann - 80 Tage auf See LP

Der Moderne Mann - 80 Tage auf See LP

Black vinyl! In the fall of 1979 the band Der Moderne Mann was founded in Hannover. After the release of the "Umsturz im Kinderzimmer" EP 1979 at Heile Welt Records the band was signed to the legendary NO FUN Records of Hollow Skai. The band's debut album called "80 Tage auf See", appeared in 1980. The reaction to this album was initially unenthusiastic. "80 Tage auf See" has been…
