Braunkohlebagger - Abbruch MLP

Braunkohlebagger (the German word for brown coal excavators) were founded at the end of 2017 out of a desire to try their hand at different music together, and to tread differently upon paths that are already well trodden. All five members are also active in other bands such as December Youth, Depart and Leitkegel - yet Brown Coal Excavators sound neither like one nor the other. This is partly due to the fact that December Youth guitarist David and Leitkegel drummer Hendrik have changed instruments for Braunkohlebagger, and the result is a sound that combines Grunge and Prog. Add to this a lyrical range that is as big as a bucket wheel excavator. The "Abruch EP" features a song about jealousy ("Herz") next to a free interpretation of Gladbeck's hostage drama ("Wochenende"). "Endlosschleife" and "Zeichen" do not subtly criticize society and draw attention to acute problems such as rising poverty, excessive consumption, decay of values and double standards. And who would have thought that the Argentine ant has so much in common with right-wing extremists ("Ameisenhaufen")? The "Abbruch EP" was recorded in the band's own rehearsal room in Essen, Germany in Spring 2018. The songs were mixed and mastered by Michael Czernicki at Rock or Die Studios, Düsseldorf in June/July 2018.
